The work, which has already begun, will improve the changing rooms and the lavatories. In addition, the shower area in the small sports hall at the sports centre will be adapted. A total of 83,000 euros will be invested in these improvements, which are an addition to the already completed work of the remodeling of the public swimming pool and the construction of a children’s pool.
The Sports department at Xaló’s town council has started the refurbishment work that will lead to the improvement of the changing rooms in Xaló’s municipal pool. In addition, they will also remodel the showers in the small sports hall. The total cost of this refurbishment work will be 83,000 euros.
Work has already begun in the changing rooms at the municipal swimming pool. The materials with which they were originally built, such as wood, were not sufficiently water resistant and this has led to their deterioration. Therefore, there was an urgent need for more adequate facilities with more durable materials such as aluminium. The changing rooms were built more than 30 years ago, and their condition was unsustainable.
On the other hand, another downside was that the toilets at the municipal swimming pool were not suitable for disabled people. Therefore, another important improvement will be to make these facilities accessible.
Alex Seguí highlighted that this work completes the plan to improve the municipal swimming pool: ” It was about bringing the swimming pool area back to life within four years and we have achieved it, firstly by building a new children’s pool, then by refurbishing the large swimming pool and now by renovating the changing rooms and their accessibility”.
The small pavilion in Xaló’s Sports Hall, which is used by various sports associations and where the new climbing wall, tatami and gym are located, also needed the showers updating.
The work at the municipal pool is expected to be completed in the spring, before opening to the public.
