The town council of Xaló has approved in the ordinary plenary today (Thursday) the change of name of Avenida Del Rey Juan Carlos I. The road, which runs from the junction between the CV-750 in Alcalalí and Camí de la Teulera to Avenida de Sant Domenec, will be called Avenida Del Pla de la Sequia (Avinguda del Pla de la Séquia).
This is the traditional name of this area, which borders the river Xaló or Gorgos, and its name gives reference to a water channel that channeled water from the river to irrigate crops.
This decision was already on the table for the council team a few months ago, but has now gained more importance because of the appearance of information about the King Emérito.
