More than 5,000 people visited the second BèrniaFest Xaló on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of November. A figure that consolidates this sporting and commercial event as the great mountain fair of the Marina Alta. All active tourism activities scheduled for the three-day weekend have exceeded the number of attendees of the first edition, in 2019.
In the Plaza Mayor there was a great atmosphere during Saturday and Sunday, thanks mainly to the mountain activities organized by the Xaló Mountain Club in which the little ones enjoyed the thrill of descending the zip line or climbing the climbing wall. In addition, the Mayorales 2020 organized a meal and there was the performance of Dolç Tab Jazz.
Exciting was also the presentation of the BèrniaFest on Friday, in which Fernando Arabí “Curro” brought his project “Km. Solidaris” to Xaló with which he will run 800 mountain to raise awareness of the rare disease known as Pompe.
Spectacular camper vans
With regard to the second Trobada Camper Xaló, the capital of La Vall del Pop once again experienced the spectacle of hosting dozens of vehicles of this type. More than 40 showed up. In a second edition in which for the first time a contest for the best camperizations was called; and there were some very spectacular. An army telecommunications truck was the winner.
Demanding race
The Bodegas Xaló Bèrnia Moscatell Trail race was attended by about 500 runners, divided into three modalities. The demanding route of the test, which runs through the Serra del Ferrer, among other very mountainous areas, led to the winners of the main race, 23km. It was two top runners in the region. On the one hand, in the female category Aïda Pérez won with a time of 3h and 2m, a runner from Dénia who often participates in ultra trail tests. In the category male won Ignasi Cardona from Xàbia, with a time of 2h and 11m. Cardona has been several times champion in international tests.
Successful olive oil processing workshop
El Rastro and Mercat de la Terra were also overflowing. In the Mercat, which celebrated a special edition dedicated to oil on the occasion of the BèrniaFest, up to 9 cooperatives of the Marina Alta and the mountain of Alicante participated. These cooperatives exhibited their productions. There was also an oil-making workshop in an outdoor oil mill, which was a success.
From the City Council of Xaló we would like to thank all the entities and associations that have made possible that all the activities of the BèrniaFest have been carried out: the Club de Atletisme Bèrnia, the Grup de Muntanya Xaló, the Mayorales 2020 and the Club Camper Xaló ; the sponsoring companies (Bodegas Xaló, Sala Hermanos, Nauticaravaning and Carvisa); the media that have collaborated: Radio Litoral Cadena Ser, La Marina Plaza and Alicante Plaza; the restaurants and bars that have prepared menus and special dishes; the commerce of the town and all and all the volunteers in general.
The success of this second edition is a very important impulse to face a third BèrniaFest Xaló in 2020.
